A group of swimmers braved the frigid weather and bitter cold temperatures Saturday for the annual Passion Plunge in Natick.

One person after another took a dip in freezing cold water for a good cause. The plunge, sponsored by the Americans Veterans Department of Massachusetts, raises money for the Special Olympics of Massachusetts. Saturday’s event raised more than $7,000.

"Truly God works though people and this is a perfect example of that," said Rob O’Connell, who helped organize the plunge.

This is the seventh year the plunge has been held and organizers said the number of people who participate grows each year.
