A Paxton animal shelter that burned down last year will be rebuilt.

Shelter officials at "Sweet Pea" said they are in the early stages of planning a new structure that will be better protected against fires.

The animals will also be given more room after the state said the previous shelter was too cluttered.

More than 50 cats and dogs were killed in the fire back in November.
