EXETER, R.I. (AP) — Authorities and volunteers are resuming their search for a Coventry woman who never returned home from a walk with her two dogs earlier this week.

Police think 59-year-old Patti Pendleton was hiking near state Route 165 in Exeter on Monday. Her family reported her missing Tuesday when she didn’t show up for work.

A search resumed on Thursday in the 16,000-acre Arcadia Management Area. Police say Pendleton has hiked there before and is familiar with the area.

Her car was found on Tuesday. Authorities believe she’s alive, but may have fallen and couldn’t get up.

Police say she fell in the woods last year and needed help getting out.

Pendleton was last seen wearing a purple sweater over a flowered shirt. Her dogs were wearing orange vests.
