BOSTON (AP) — Federal workers in Boston have another option to fill their free time during the government shutdown: taking in the symphony.
The Boston Symphony Orchestra is offering complimentary tickets to furloughed workers for performances this month.
The venerable ensemble says workers with valid federal government identification can request a pair of tickets for up to two different shows through Jan. 29.
The effort launched with concerts Thursday and Friday. It continues with Saturday and Tuesday shows, which feature performances of works by composers Joseph Haydn and Johannes Brahms.
Other concert dates are Jan. 24, 25, 26 and 29, when the symphony will play works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and others.
The New England Aquarium, Museum of Fine Arts and other Boston institutions have offered similar promotions to federal workers.
