Illegally obtained opioids are driving force behind epidemic

The department of public health announced findings on the driving force behind the opioid epidemic.

They found that two-thirds of people who died from an opioid overdose had a prescription in the past.

However, they said a small percent of people had an active prescription at the time of an overdose, meaning many more obtained the drugs illegally.
