Worcester police are investigating an armed assault and attempted robbery that occurred early Saturday morning.

According to police, officers received a report of an armed assault with a firearm in the driveway of a home on Hamilton Street around 2:30 a.m.

After the assault, the victim fled the area and called police from a friend’s house.

When officers arrived, the victim told them he pulled into his driveway and stopped his car, before being approached by a large black man in his mid-twenties.

The victim said the man, who was described as having short hair and wearing a light colored t-shirt, banged on his driver’s side window with a gun and motioned for the victim to roll down his window.

At the same time, the suspect was allegedly yelling and swearing at the victim.

The victim did not roll down his window, and instead put his vehicle in reverse and fled the scene. As the victim fled, the suspect fired several rounds in his direction.

After officers investigated the victim’s car, they determined it had been struck by two bullets. Police also found ballistic evidence at the scene of the initial assault.

The victim was not injured, and the investigation is ongoing.
