It is a fresh start for the Boston Celtics as they kick off their season Wednesday at TD Garden.

For the past two seasons, the Celtics have been eliminated in the first round of the playoffs. Last season, it happened despite being second place in the East behind the NBA champions, the Cleveland Cavaliers.

“If we can put it all together, we can be special,” said Isaiah Thomas. “I’m not gonna say we’re gonna go to the NBA finals or do none of that but like I said before, teams know we can be really good.”

Joining the Celtics this season is four-time all-star Al Horford.

“He just has a lot of great qualities,” said Celtics General Manager Danny Ainge. “He plays defense, he rebounds, he can spread the floor on offense, he’s very unselfish. And all those characteristics are contagious and he’s been everything that we hoped he’d be.”

The Celtics tip off Wednesday evening against the Brooklyn Nets.
