CONCORD, MASS. (WHDH) - Crews are working around the clock in Concord to cleanup after a tornado left behind a path of destruction on Monday.
They are trying to restore power, fix homes and clear the roads.
Emergency workers said the cleanup could take days.
The EF-1 tornado carved a path about a half-mile long and as wide as a football field through neighborhoods.
Alcott and Independence Drive were two of the hardest hit streets.
One hundred mile-per-hour winds knocked down trees, with some landing on neighbor’s roofs.
The National Weather Service said the tornado touched down early Monday morning while many people were asleep, damaging 39 homes. Only one home took a serious hit.
Monday afternoon, Governor Charlie Baker surveyed the damage and met with homeowners, who were left with quite a mess to clean up.
No one was hurt during the tornado, but one worker was rushed to the hospital after being hit by a branch while loading a wood chipper.
Crews worked throughout the day, cleaning debris and fixing power lines.
