Biography
Melanie Black joined 7NEWS as a weekend meteorologist in November 2022. She is a native of the Midwest who has called St. Louis, Houston, Chicago, Tucson and Sacramento home.
In Sacramento Melanie covered extensive wildfires and drought. Before that she worked in Tucson covering her favorite season – monsoon season.
Melanie is proudest of her work with the Special Olympics. In 2022, Special Olympics Northern California honored her with the Philanthropic Volunteer of the Year Award for her contributions.
Melanie enjoys being outdoors. She and her husband love to sail – so much so that they got married on a Brigantine yacht. They’ve spent a lot of time sailing around San Francisco Bay and she has been part of a race team. Melanie is excited to explore the waters off New England.
