WESTBORO, Mass. (WHDH) — Police in Westboro say 18-year-old Pablo Salcedo was killed early Sunday morning when the minivan he was driving collided with a another vehicle on Route 9 near the Speedway Plaza.

Police say Salcedo was on his way to pick up his mother on Route 9 in Westboro. When he did not arrive his mother received a ride from another person and tragically came upon the crash and recognized the vehicle.

“She came upon the accident scene after we had already arrived. So she had made contact with other family members and the whole family showed up at the scene. It was pretty stressful. “ said Westboro Police Chief Alan Gordon

Pablo Salcedo was a student at the Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School in Marlboro. School officials said grief counselors where available at the school on Monday.

“Pablo was a solid student at the school. He was student athlete. He was a varsity soccer captain. Very well respected by his peers and his teachers. “ said Superintendent Patrick Collins

Friends of Salcedo arrived at the scene of the crash after his body had been removed.

"Pablo always had a smile on his face. nothing bad to say about anybody he could cheer you up if you had a bad day. he was a go to guy he was just always was there," Josh O'Hare said.

Police are still investigating the accident. The driver of the other vehicle was uninjured.
