The Massachusetts Senate passed a one-year moratorium on the plan to raise Timber Rattlesnakes on an island in the Quabbin Reservoir.

Officials had proposed moving the venomous snakes there so they could repopulate.

The division of fisheries and wildlife will submit a new report about the plan by the end of the year.
