REVERE, MA (WHDH) – Police officials say they have identified the male driver who fled after crashing into a commuter rail in Revere Wednesday night.

A car and double-decker Commuter Rail train collided on Oak Island Road in Revere. Surveillance video of the crash shows two men miraculously escaping the destroyed car and fleeing.

In the video it appears only the back half of the car was smashed, tearing the car in half.

A witness says the driver sped over the tracks because he was fleeing from an earlier fender bender.

Witness Jenny Reynolds said she spoke with the driver after the collision. “We stayed and talked with him for about 20 minutes,” Reynolds said. “We were just worried…I can’t imagine how I would feel in that situation.”

No train passengers were reported injured. Those passengers were transported to another train at Wonderland station.
