NASHUA, N.H (WHDH) - A 79-year-old woman suffered minor injuries after she crashed her car into a state police cruiser, according to New Hampshire state police.

Police said a trooper stopped to assist 47-year-old Rachel Lessard of Nashua around 10:00 a.m. Saturday, when her car ran out of gas on the Everett Turnpike. The incident occurred just before the Exit 5A off-ramp.

The trooper pulled his cruiser behind Lessard, activated his emergency lights, and started to assist with pouring fuel into the car.

As the trooper worked on the car, a woman identified as 79-year-old Carolyn Mulrooney of Nashua drove her car into the rear end of the trooper’s cruiser. The cruiser was pushed forward into the back of Lessard’s car, in the same vicinity where the trooper was standing seconds before the crash.

The trooper and Lessard were not injured in the crash. Mulrooney was taken to Saint Joseph’s Hospital with minor injuries.

Mulrooney was also cited for the Move Over Law-Motorist Duties When Approaching Highway Emergencies.
