ARLINGTON, MASS. (WHDH) - Chief Frederick Ryan says that the Arlington Police are “actively searching” for a man who robbed a Leader Bank branch in the town Friday afternoon.

Around 1:30 p.m., a man entered the Leader Bank at 449 Massachusetts Ave.

He passed a note to the teller saying he had a gun.

He is believed to have run away traveling westbound on Mass Ave. with an undetermined amount of cash. 

The suspect is described as a black male,  approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, wearing a knitted winter Patriots hat, sunglasses, a blue checkered shirt, blue jeans, and black boots or sneakers.

Out of caution, St. Anges School and Arlington Catholic High School briefly sheltered in place while police searched for the suspect.
