A man was killed after a police-involved shooting in Braintree Thursday morning.

This comes after police responded to a domestic disturbance call on Liberty Street around 1:20 a.m.

When they arrived, the suspect, Robert L. Dussourd, 44, ran away, armed with a knife.

According to police, he was recently a resident of Liberty Street in Braintree, formerly of Cherry Street in Quincy.

Police used K9s to track the man, who was hiding under a car.

A neighbor who witnessed the incident tells 7News that after police repeatedly asked the suspect to show his hands, he heard the suspect tell police, "I have a knife, just shoot me."

According to officials, they first used a bean-bag gun to diffuse the situation. Police shot the man when that was unsuccessful.

Neither the officers or the person who made the domestic disturbance call were hurt.

The suspect was taken to South Shore Hospital where he later died.
