BRIDGEWATER, MASS. (WHDH) - Bridgewater police have identified and charged the driver who allegedly caused a motorcycle crash that injured two people.

Police charged 43-year-old Violanta Andrade of Brockton with failing to grant the right of way and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident with personal injury.

According to police, officers and fire officials responded to several 911 calls reporting a collision involving a motorcycle on Bedford Street at the intersection of Winter Place Plaza.

When officers arrived, police found the driver of the motorcycle and the passenger, who suffered serious injuries. Police said the motorcycle swerved off the road and struck a tree to avoid colliding with the car that pulled out in front of it.

After reviewing video surveillance, police began searching for the car believed to be involved in the crash.

Police conducted a traffic stop of the suspected car Thursday, and determined Andrade was the suspect in the crash.

Andrade will be summonsed to court at a later date.
