BROCKTON (WHDH) – Brockton Police continue to search for a hit-and-run driver who struck and critically injured a pedestrian late Friday night.

The crash happened early Friday morning on North Main Street in front of The Spot Bar and Lounge in Brockton.

Officials said Sunday that they identified the car involved in a hit-and-run.

Officials said they received a tip from the owner of the car, who said he came home to find his car with a significant amount of damage.

Investigators determined it was the car involved in the hit-and-run.

Chenet Sam, the owner of The Spot Bar and Lounge, said he wants “We are a community here. And while I can’t control everything that happens on the streets, I’m responsible for my patrons.”

A group was crossing the street when a 25-year-old man was hit by a car. The driver did not stop.

The man was initially taken to Good Samaritan Hospital, and he was later transported to Beth Israel Hospital. The status of the man’s injury is unknown at this time.
