CHELSEA, MASS. (WHDH) - Chelsea High School will be closed for the remainder of the week due to an infestation of flies.

Chelsea Superintendent Dr. Mary Bourque said the district’s Facilities Management Department got complaints about flies in the school’s kitchen area last week. The drains and grease traps were cleaned out but the flies remained.

Bourque said an exterminator was called to investigate where the flies were coming from and cleaners inspected the school’s drain pipes. In both instances, the result was inconclusive.

The school will be closed so crews can inspect the school to search for where the flies are coming from and how to keep the bugs out.
