BLOCK ISLAND, RI (WHDH) — The Coast Guard is searched for a possible person in the water in Great Salt Pond on Block Island in Rhode Island on Monday.
Around 1 a.m. Monday, crews received a report of an unmanned dinghy making circles in the pond.
The Harbormaster located the dinghy and saw there was no one on board.
Crews search from the air and the ground.
Crews also contacted the dinghy’s owner, who said he and his family were safe and accounted for.
The owner said he last checked the dinghy Sunday afternoon, when it was moored at a pier.
Anyone with information on who may have been operating the dinghy is urged to contact officials at 508-457-3211.
