DERBY, Conn. (AP) — A Connecticut police officer with a history of domestic violence arrests has been suspended without pay following his latest arrest on a sexual assault charge.

Bridgeport Officer Steven Figueroa had been on administrative duty since his arrest earlier this month in Shelton. He was suspended Monday.

The Connecticut Post reports that his arrest Saturday was the fourth time in two years the 28-year-old Figueroa has faced domestic violence charges.

He also has a warrant out of Bridgeport court after he allegedly violated the conditions of a prior discharge in a separate case.

Figueroa was allowed to stay free on $75,000 bond after Monday’s court appearance. The judge also ordered Figueroa to have no contact with the alleged victim.

His lawyer, Christian Young, says his client maintains his innocence.
