PAWTUCKET, R.I. (AP) — Connecticut State Police have seized the guns, badge and cruiser of a trooper following his arrest in Rhode Island on misdemeanor domestic violence charges, authorities said Thursday.

Pawtucket police charged Trooper Marwing Pena, 30, with simple assault and disorderly conduct. An arraignment was scheduled Thursday in Providence District Court.

Details of the allegations have not been released. Online court records show the charges were related to a domestic violence incident on Thursday.

“Pena’s police powers have been suspended and an internal affairs investigation is underway,” state police said in a statement.

It was not clear if Pena, who has been a trooper since October 2018, has an attorney who could respond to the allegations.
