DEDHAM, MASS. (WHDH) - A crane reached its tipping point in Dedham on Monday, toppling over as crews tried to move a tree.
Firefighters and heavy equipment experts tried to figure out how to right the big crane that came crashing down, with nearly deadly consequences.
A neighbor said he was right where the crane landed just moments before.
“If I was still standing there I probably either would have been dead or seriously injured,” he said.
The crane was there to remove a tree from tight quarters in a small backyard on Crane street.
The crane damaged the roof of a neighbor’s garage.
Investigators are still not sure what caused the crane to fall over.
The crane operator escaped without a scratch, despite being at the controls of the machine when it went sideways.
