BOSTON (WHDH) — Daffodils will soon line the route of the Boston Marathon – all 26.2 miles from Hopkinton to Boston.

The Marathon Daffodils Project hopes to preserve the spirit of the marathon by planting the flowers.

Daffodils were chosen as the flower because they're yellow, one of the marathon colors, as well as a symbol of hope and re-birth.
