ATTLEBORO, Mass. (AP) — A former Massachusetts college student prosecutors say had a duffel bag containing more than five pounds of marijuana and other drugs in his car when he was pulled over has been sentenced to probation.

The Sun Chronicle reports that former Wheaton College student Jedediah Daniel acknowledged in court Monday there were sufficient facts to convict him of drug charges.

The judge continued the case for 2 ½ years of probation, meaning the charges will be dismissed if Daniel complies with all probationary conditions.

Daniel was pulled over in September 2017 in Norton.

He was a junior at Wheaton majoring in political science and English at the time but was expelled after his arrest.

His attorney had argued he had no prior record and a felony conviction would hamper job prospects.
