The hottest weather of the season has arrived in New England with temperatures climbing into the 90s and threatening to stay there for days.
Boston Mayor Marty Walsh declared a heat emergency Saturday, and many communities opened cooling centers for overheated residents in the region.
The hot, muggy weather isn’t going away.
For example, meteorologist Derek Schroeter from the National Weather Service says Concord, New Hampshire, will likely see seven consecutive days of 90-degree temperatures. The last time that happened was back in 2002.
Officials are urging residents to take precautions by avoiding prolonged exposure, taking plenty of breaks and staying hydrated.
