NORTH ANDOVER, MASS. (WHDH) - A judge has dropped all charges against Elizabeth Backler, a former North Andover swim coach accused of giving drugs to a 16-year-old student.

The judge dropped charges just before the trial was set to begin.

Backler was charged with three counts of distributing Oxycodone and Valium to the student back in 2014.

The lawyer for Elizabeth Backler is asking a judge to dismiss evidence in the case in January 2016.

Backler’s attorney claimed police did not have a warrant when they took a list of Backler’s prescriptions from the pharmacy.
