A Lawrence man was arrested after he allegedly hid cocaine in his underwear while police inspected his car during a traffic stop, according to Maine State Police.

According to police, a trooper stopped Franklin Salcedo of Lawrence on Route 111 in Lyman after noticing both of his license plate lights were out.

Salcedo did not have a license, and told the trooper he was visiting friends in Lyman.

Police later determined the house he was visiting was a known drug house. A consent search was conducted and several cell phones were found.

Salcedo was arrested for operating without a license, and was taken to the York County Jail.

After Salcedo was booked, the trooper went back to his cruiser and noticed a small baggie on his rear passenger floor that appeared to be cocaine.

According to police, Salcedo hid the drugs in his underwear and stashed the baggie under the cruiser seat while police were searching his car.

Police said the total amount of cocaine in the baggie was 13 grams.

Salcedo was then charged with unlawful possession of scheduled drugs, and his bail was set at $2,000.
