EASTON, MASS. (WHDH) - The man who was found in a wooded area in Easton suffering from gunshot wounds has died, according to the Bristol County District Attorney’s office.

The man, Daniel Smith, 35 of Florida, was found suffering from a gunshot wound in a wooded area on Tuesday.

According to the DA, police had received a call from an Easton woman who told police that her young children found the man while they were riding their bikes.

Police immediately responded to the area between Pond Street and Longwater Pond.

The DA said he was rushed to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton. He was then med-flighted to Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, where he was pronounced dead on Friday night.

Smith formerly lived in Easton.

Investigators have asked for the public’s help in locating a vehicle believed to be connected to the case.

The car has been described as a 2016 Mazda 3 sedan with the license plate “371QQK.”
