RANDOLPH, MASS. (WHDH) - A Halifax man has been arrested after a police chase through three towns on Wednesday.

James Joyce, 41 of Halifax, was arrested after the chase came to an end in Randolph.

The chase went through Halifax, East Bridgewater, Whitman, Hanson, Brockton, Holbrook and Randolph and ended with a crash on Route 28.

The car, which police said belongs to Joyce’s mother, spun out and made contact with a Randolph Police cruiser, effectively ending the crash.

Police said Joyce may have assaulted a police officer during his arrest.

Joyce was treated at a local hospital.

He is now due in court, where he could be charged with driving to endanger, auto theft, and assault and battery on a police officer.

Joyce is well known to Halifax police. He has been arrested four times and has a long record dating back to 1993 when he was arrested for drunk driving as a teen.
