The driver of a car that hit a mother and her two kids appeared in court on Monday.
Police believe 52-year-old, Dexter Mitchell, was drunk driving when he hit the mother and her twin daughters.
Police said the family was crossing the street to head home after a night out in Salem when they were hit.
Witnesses told police they saw Mitchell slow down but not stop.
However, Mitchell’s attorney disagreed and said the Beverly man was the one who turned himself in.
The mother and her children are recovering at the hospital.
