EAST BRIDGEWATER, MASS. (WHDH) - East Bridgewater Police arrested a man after he rear-ended a police cruiser, seriously injuring the officer inside.

According to police, the man was allegedly under the influence of alcohol.

Police received a report from an officer that his vehicle had been rear-ended on Route 18 around 1 a.m. Saturday.

The driver, identified as Ryan Macaluso, 24 of Abington, was arrested and faces multiple charges including a second OUI offense.

Police noticed alcohol on his breath when they arrived to the scene.

The officer was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries and was released several hours later.

Malcaluso was taken to East Bridgewater police station and was later released on bail.

He is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday at Brockton District Court.
