ROXBURY, MA (WHDH) —  Police have released images of a person of interest in connection with a toddler who was shot Saturday afternoon in Roxbury on Winslow st.

The Police Commissioner said the shooting was gang related and the shot was intended for the little girl’s father.

Instead the little girl was caught in the cross fire.

Police responded to a report of shots fired just before 4 p.m. Saturday. When they arrived, they saw a car that appeared to have been hit by gunfire.

Officers learned a man wearing a black helmet while riding a black and white scooter was seen leaving the area immediately after the shooting.

The man’s connection to the incident is still unclear, police said, but investigators are asking anyone with information to call police.

The bullet went through the 2-year-old’s hand and leg and miraculously she is expected to be okay.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police at 617-343-6689.

The shooting remains under investigation.
