BOSTON (WHDH) - Striking Verizon workers made their presence known on Tuesday outside an event in Boston where Verizon’s CEO spoke.

Nearly 40,000 Verizon workers on the East Coast have been on strike since mid-April.

Verizon’s CEO spoke at a technology conference at the Westin-Copley Hotel Tuesday morning.

The workers said the CEO should be in Washington, D.C. working to get them a new contract.

The workers said Verizon is trying to force concessions that would lead to outsourcing their jobs overseas.

Verizon said it needs to address rising healthcare costs and wants more flexibility in managing it workers.
