Man arraigned in assault of BPD officers on Boston Common

BOSTON (WHDH) - A man accused of assaulting two police officers on Boston Common was arraigned Monday.

Joseph Demaio allegedly assaulted the officers Friday after they tried to arrest him for an outstanding warrant in Connecticut. The officers were allegedly going to approach him for smoking on the Common when they learned he was wanted in Connecticut.

Both officers were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. They were treated and released.

Demaio is wanted for second-degree sexual assault in Connecticut.
