PROCTOR, Vt. (AP) — Vermont State Police say a woman who was found dead in a car was strangled, and they’ve arrested a man on a second-degree murder charge.

Police said they arrested 28-year-old Shawn Laplant, of the city of Rutland, in connection with the death of 44-year-old Alicia Harrington.

Laplant was being held without bail at Marble Valley Correctional Center in Rutland. He was scheduled to be arraigned Friday afternoon. It wasn’t immediately known if he had a lawyer.

Harrington’s body was found March 6 in a car in Proctor after she had been reported missing. Police said the final autopsy report hasn’t been released yet, but it revealed that she was strangled.
