BOSTON (WHDH) - An MBTA-owned smoking manhole on Huntington Ave. is halting Green Line service on the E branch after the Brigham Circle stop, an MBTA spokesperson confirmed.

The spokesperson said this incident is “under investigation” and directed 7NEWS to a related tweet that called the issue “a power problem.”

“Green Line E Branch: Service is terminating at Brigham Circle due to a power problem,” the MBTA tweeted Friday afternoon. “Use Route 39 for alternate service to Heath St.”

Huntington Ave. was closed due to the incident, but is back open tonight.
