BOSTON (WHDH) - The MBTA says its debit and credit card system is now back up and running after it was unable to accept electronic payment Tuesday morning.
The MBTA announced the issue just before 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Cash machines appear to still be working.
Purchases can continue to be made at retail sales locations.
Riders experienced issues Tuesday morning as they tried to get through the turnstiles at North Station and were unable to do so unless they had cash.
