PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A Rhode Island mob associate authorities say was selling stolen items out of a social club has been sent to prison.
The Providence Journal reports that 76-year-old Richard Tiberi was sentenced to two years in prison, with 93 days to serve, after pleading no contest to receiving stolen goods.
A felony charge of soliciting another to commit a crime was dismissed as part of a plea agreement.
Court records show Tiberi paid cash for items stolen from local pharmacies such as razors, Rogaine and over-the-counter medication, and sold them at steep discounts at the Decatur Social Club in Providence.
State police searched his home, his car and the club in February and seized several items, including 20 New England Patriots hats and more than $7,600 in cash.
