MSPCA Angell’s law enforcement team has filed one count of felony animal cruelty against a Phillipston couple.

According to the MSPCA, Richard and Hillary Marshall allowed their dog Buttercup to suffer unnecessarily.

Buttercup was found covered in porcupine quills, which had to be surgically removed.

She was suffering from a fever, infection and abscesses when she was found.

She also tested positive for Lyme disease.

She has since been treated and is up for adoption at the MSPCA’s Boston center.
