PITTSFIELD, Mass. (AP) — Authorities say a pilot is expected to be OK after he was seriously injured in a plane crash at a Massachusetts airport.

Firefighters responded to a report of a crash at the Pittsfield Municipal Airport just before noon Sunday.

Authorities say an airport employee helped get the pilot out of the Cessna 172. The plane was leaking fuel and officials’ preliminary estimate determined it was totaled.

The pilot was taken to hospital with injuries described as “traumatic” but non-life-threatening. His name wasn’t immediately released.

No other injuries were reported.

It’s not clear what caused the plane to crash. The Federal Aviation Administration and police are investigating.
