WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) — Police are investigating the possible drowning death of a woman in Massachusetts.

Worcester police responded to a call from two men about a potential drowning Saturday morning shortly before 8 a.m., and found a woman’s body in the water at Lake Park.

They say the 37-year-old woman was found faced down and pronounced dead. Members of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner have retrieved her body and are assessing the cause of death. Police have not identified the victim, and say the investigation is ongoing.

An initial examination at the medical examiner’s office indicates the cause of death to be accidental drowning, but a final determination won’t be made until an autopsy is performed.
