PARSONSFIELD, Maine (AP) — Officials say a 26-year-old pregnant woman in Maine has been stabbed in the abdomen in an altercation sparked by social media.
York County Sheriff Bill King tells the Portland Press Herald that an 18-year-old woman pulled out a knife and stabbed the unidentified victim, who is 20 weeks pregnant, in Parsonsfield Sunday.
Police said the altercation began with online threats involving two couples, including the woman who stabbed the victim and now faces charges of elevated aggravated assault. The couples decided to meet in person where it escalated into a physical fight.
Officials say the victim was having difficulty breathing before she was taken to a hospital and flown to Central Maine Medical Center. Authorities haven’t disclosed the condition of the victim or her fetus.
