NORTH STONINGTON, Conn. (AP) — Records show the license of the teenage driver accused in a crash that killed three people, including the driver, was suspended.

WPRI reports the driving record of 17-year-old Abigayl Lanphear, of Westerly, Rhode Island, shows her license was suspended in December 2018.

Police say Lanphear was driving the wrong way on Interstate 95 Wednesday when she struck another vehicle.

Lanphear died in the crash along with the driver of the other car, 84-year-old Roger Noel, of West Warwick, Rhode Island, and his passenger, 83-year-old Dorothy Noel.

Three other people were injured, including a 17-year-old passenger in the car Lanphear was driving, who was taken to Rhode Island Hospital.

Police say the two teenagers were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
