Senate Republicans block $600M to fight opioid epidemic

Senate Republicans have blocked $600 million in emergency funding to fight the opioid epidemic.

Lawmakers said the bill was basically a duplicate, because millions of dollars have already been set aside to deal with the national problem.

The money was to be used to improve the monitoring of prescription drugs, and to help police fight heroin abuse.
