MILFORD, MASS. (WHDH) - One local family was boiling. Their AC broke, and they say their home warranty company wasn’t helping them cool things off. So they called Solve It 7.

As a parent of six kids, sometimes it can be hard to keep your cool. Especially for Chris and Kelly. Soon after they brought baby Carter home from the hospital, their AC broke.

“It was pretty awful,” Chris said.

The central air conditioner that cooled their entire second floor stopped working earlier this summer.

“It was really hard,” Kelly said.

The temperature in their bedrooms hovered near 80 degrees.

Their children were sweating it!

“They were, you know, kept coming in like, ‘We can’t sleep. It’s so hot,'” Chris said.

The Milford couple had a home warranty – a policy that covers repairs and replacements on systems and appliances in your home. So they called the home warranty company hoping for a fast fix. But had to cool their heels.

“They were just kind of giving us the runaround and giving us no answers,” Chris said.

“There are no words to describe how frustrating it was,” Kelly said.

To sleep, the family had to move mattresses into their first-floor living room which is cooled by a different AC system.

“It was very painful. I had a C section with him. So, my body is still healing and trying to recover, and sleeping on a mattress on a floor is definitely not in my best interest trying to heal,” Kelly said.

Feeling hot under the collar, they contacted Solve It 7.

“I actually spoke to my dad about it. He said, ‘You know, you should reach out to channel 7,'” Chris said.

“We didn’t know what else to do. We needed help,” Kelly said.

We contacted the home warranty company, and cooler heads prevailed.

Company representatives immediately bought Chris and Kelly window air conditioners and placed an expedited order for a new AC unit.

“I appreciate everything that you guys have been able to do for us,” Chis said.

“You guys have helped in a way that we just we couldn’t do on our own,” Kelly said.
