A Roxbury man has been held on $500,000 bail after a shooting on Wednesday.

One person was injured in the shooting.

Dondre Crawford appeared in court on Thursday.

The incident happened at 42 Walnut Park. A firearm was recovered, police said.

Police responded with a search dog and began looking for the victim, who left the scene.

One resident said a construction worker who witnessed the shooting told him a police officer on detail was there when the suspect chased another man down the street with a gun and then shot him in an alley. Police will not confirm an officer was present and chased down the gunman.

Images from city surveillance near the shooting scene may provide valuable evidence.

The wounded man brought himself to Boston Medical Center, where police said he is being treated for a non-life threatening injury.

The victim has still not been identified.

Crawford  is also being held without bail pending a hearing to determine whether he violated the terms of his probation on a 2014 gun conviction for which he also served a year and a half in prison.
