WASHINGTON (WHDH) - A toddler in Washington, DC was ticketed for littering.

Harper, 2, was given a ticket for $75 after crews found an envelope with her name on it on the ground.

Harper’s parents called the Department of Public Works to fight the ticket.

A spokesperson showed up to clear the air with the family.

“I apologized to them for the mistake, but we were just doing our jobs,” said Andre Lee, DPW spokesperson.

The girl’s father said the mix-up was ironic because she was always taught to pick up her trash.

The citation and the fine were dropped.
