LONDON (AP) — Polls have opened in Britain today for a referendum on whether the country should quit the European Union.

Voters are being asked, “Should the United Kingdom remain a member of the European Union or leave the European Union?” Those pushing to leave the EU argue that a British exit can restore power to Parliament and control immigration.

Those pushing to remain in the bloc, like Prime Minister David Cameron, argue that Britain is safer and richer inside the 28-nation EU.
