Cancer patient denied California rental car

When a woman recently tried to rent a car from Alamo at the Sacramento Airport, the worker said she did not look like the person on her driver’s license.

Leak Cook of Fairfield recently lost her hair due to cancer treatment for breast cancer and wears a wig to hide her hair loss.

Cook protested and eventually a senior manager let her rent a car, but she said only after minutes of embarrassment and humiliation.

“He held up my id and he said who is this? Who is this and I said that’s me,” Cook said. “And he said, no that’s not you and I was like yes it’s me. I have cancer and he was like no that’s not you. And I took off my wig and said see I have cancer.”

Cook said she reported the incident to Alamo, and the company said it is taking the report seriously and will investigate.
