TAMPA, FL (WHDH) — When 15-month-old CJ Nelson stopped breathing, Deputy Steve Donaldson of Hillsborough County stepped in to save his life.
Shakira Nelson was at the tax collector’s office with her son when off-duty Deputy Donaldson was there too.
Donaldson recently finished infant CPR training, and sprang into action.
“When I had Cory in my arms, I said a little prayer and said God give me strength to save this baby. And He did.”
Nelson was thankful that the deputy was there.
“I really didn’t know that he had the training, so, thank you. And he is saying thank you as well.”
